New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Shankar Lal Kumawat (2010 batch) belonging to the Tamil Nadu cadre has been appointed as Director in the Department of Revenue, Delhi.
His appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme was confirmed in an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Kumawat will assume his new role from the date he takes charge, with his tenure lasting either five years or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
His extensive experience in administration and taxation is expected to contribute significantly to the department’s objectives.
Kumawat has previously served as the Collector of Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu. He has held key positions in the state, including Joint Commissioner (Commercial Taxes), Joint Commissioner (Education) in Chennai Corporation and Sub-Collector in Kanniyakumari district. He was also deputed to Rajasthan, his home state, for five years.
Apart from his administrative roles, Kumawat was recently appointed as Additional Chief Electoral Officer in Tamil Nadu by the Election Commission of India. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in overseeing electoral processes.
Kumawat’s new assignment in the Department of Revenue will involve key policy decisions related to taxation and financial governance.
His appointment comes as part of a broader bureaucratic reshuffle aimed at strengthening the financial administration of the country.
Officials believe his experience will be instrumental in shaping revenue policies and ensuring efficient governance.
