Dhenkanal: Jindal (India) Limited, a key player in India’s downstream steel sector and part of the B.C. Jindal Group has received a Letter of Approval (LoA) to establish a state-of-the-art greenfield steel manufacturing facility in Dhenkanal, Odisha.Â
The approval was granted through its wholly owned subsidiary, Jindal India Steel Tech Limited (JISTL), during a High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting chaired by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The ambitious project, set to be executed in three phases by 2030, involves a total investment of Rs 15,000 crore. In the first phase, the company will invest Rs 3,600 crore, with commissioning targeted by 2027. The facility will specialize in special coated steel products and will feature a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL), and Colour Coating Line (CCL), with an annual production capacity of 9.6 lakh metric tonnes.
By 2030, JISTL aims to scale the plant’s flat product division to a total capacity of 30 lakh metric tonnes annually. In addition, the company will set up a steel pipe manufacturing unit with a planned annual capacity of 2 lakh metric tonnes.
This expansion highlights Jindal (India) Limited’s strategic push into advanced steel manufacturing and underscores its commitment to fostering industrial development in Odisha.
