ICICI Bank Commits Rs 625 Cr to Build Radiation Therapy Facilities at Tata Memorial Centre

Mumbai: ICICI Bank, in partnership with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has begun construction of a new cancer care building at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Funded through the Bank’s CSR contribution of Rs 625 crore, the upcoming facility will be one of India’s largest radiation therapy centres, equipped with advanced cancer treatment technologies.

This initiative is part of ICICI Bank’s broader commitment of Rs 1,800 crore to TMC for establishing three state-of-the-art cancer care buildings — in Navi Mumbai, Mullanpur (New Chandigarh), and Visakhapatnam.

Foundation laid for ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the new facility, named the ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’, was held in Navi Mumbai.

The event was attended by Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Chairman of ICICI Bank; Sandeep Batra and Ajay Gupta, Executive Directors of ICICI Bank; and Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director of TMC.

The 11-storey building, including a ground floor and two basements, will cover 3.4 lakh square feet. It will house 12 advanced Linear Accelerators (LINACs) and other high-end cancer care equipment. Once operational, the facility will provide radiation therapy to around 7,200 patients every year, with more than two lakh radiation sessions. It will also offer consultations and diagnostic services to about 25,000 new patients annually. The project is expected to be completed by 2027 and will be implemented by the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the CSR arm of ICICI Bank.

Strengthening cancer care and healthcare infrastructure

ICICI Bank stated that this project aligns with its CSR focus on healthcare, environmental conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. The bank emphasized that the new facility would greatly expand access to advanced radiation therapy and strengthen the country’s critical healthcare infrastructure.

Leaders from TMC expressed appreciation for ICICI Foundation’s support, noting that the new blocks across Navi Mumbai, Mullanpur, and Visakhapatnam will enhance access to evidence-based cancer therapy, particularly for underserved patients.

They highlighted that the facilities would serve as centres of excellence for blood cancers, provide affordable state-of-the-art treatment, and boost education, training, and research capacity in oncology.

The collaboration between ICICI Bank and TMC is expected to set new benchmarks in accessible, high-quality cancer care and advanced clinical research in India.
