Noida International Airport Starts Commercial Flights As First IndiGo Service Lands At Jewar

Summarize with:
Noida, June 15(CXO Media): Noida International Airport has officially entered commercial service with the arrival of its first scheduled passenger flight on June 15, marking a key milestone for India’s aviation sector.
The inaugural commercial service was operated by IndiGo, with flight 6E-2278 departing from Lucknow and landing at the newly opened Jewar airport before continuing onward to Bengaluru. The launch comes after the airport secured the required operational approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district along the Yamuna Expressway, Noida International Airport is expected to improve air connectivity for passengers across western Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi-NCR region. The airport is also expected to ease some of the traffic pressure currently handled by Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The first phase of the project includes a runway, passenger terminal and air traffic control infrastructure. Airport authorities estimate that the facility can handle around 12 million passengers annually in its current phase.

According to the airport’s long-term development plan, capacity is expected to increase in stages over the next decade. Once fully developed, the airport is planned to have multiple runways and significantly higher passenger handling capability, making it one of India’s largest aviation hubs.

IndiGo has announced plans to gradually add more domestic connections from Noida International Airport. Future routes are expected to include cities such as Hyderabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Srinagar.
