Lucknow : Last week was the begining. Many more weeks to follow. The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to impose lockdown every weekend across the state in the month of July. This was announced by Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Information) Awanish Awasthi.

He said, ‘the lockdown on weekends will be implemented from the coming Saturday and Sunday especially in the crowded areas. The markets and offices will remain closed on these days. However, the banks will remain open.’
The lockdown will remain effective in both urban and rural areas of the state. “It (lockdown) will be in place for the month of July at least,” Awanish Awasthi said.
The state government has been forced to take this decision as corona cases have continued to surge in Uttar Pradesh. 55 hour long weekend lockdown was imposed in the state last Friday.
