Investing years in studies to make a career and finally quit to follow your passion and dream is a thing of past. The beginning can start from the calling through scientific and tech based assessments & counselling and build the foundation for a strong future says Ms. Rashmi Busireddy, a certified career guidance expert, professional psychologist and Founder, Nakshatra in an interaction with Sudheer Goutham of APAC News Network.

How scientific is Nakshatra’s approach towards analysis and career counselling for individual child / student?

At Nakshatra, we believe that every child must have an opportunity to understand “Self” and also have awareness about the various occupational choices available globally before making a decision regarding their career. The process starts with a psychometric assessment which gives a 5-D analysis of the individual – Personality, Career Interests, Career Motivators, Learning Styles, Skills & Abilities. Additionally, ‘EQ’ factor is added at Graduate & Professional Level. The Psychometric tests are based on standard psychological theories – MBTI, Howard Gardner and Holland’s RIASEC model which are integrated into our sophisticated technology-based AI Platform. This interface is user friendly and extremely reliable. So once the report is generated, a certified career counsellor helps the student and the parents to interpret the report along with providing a detailed analysis and execution plan after choosing the best suited career for the individual. The counsellor also provides information about the latest developments, expected demand in future for the chosen option and the best colleges that offer the course along with the entrance examination schedules.

Do you think it is high time that every educational institution should have a system and scientific approach for a student’s career counselling?

Today we see a lot of young adults discussing about quitting jobs to pursue their passions and dreams. If only they had the opportunity to know where their personality fits best and where their interest lies, they would be exactly at the right place they always wished for and work will feel like play. So, yes it is high time that educational institutions focus on creating awareness about the importance of career counselling and also make it a part of main stream academic routine.

In this age of modern technology, what should be the ideal practice of parents for their child’s studies and career?

Today’s parents are in a tricky era. They are bombarded with so much information that decisions are taken based on the trends that come and go. It is important for today’s parent to go inward and believe that their child is a unique individual with unique personality traits and skills. They need to gift their child an opportunity to learn about his/her strengths & weaknesses and enable their child to work on developing skills that match one’s interest. This helps every child to not only accept themselves better but also know where and how to go about when making a crucial decision regarding their future.
