Mumbai: With the rising number of new Covid cases, the Maharashtra Government imposed restrictions. The situation resulted in the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to hold a closed-door meeting to discuss the emerging situation.
The local administration in several districts, especially in Vidharbha region imposed restrictions during the night. According to latest reports, 5,427 new Covid cases, 38 deaths have been reported.
The restrictions include of not allowing more than five people to come together. Blowing an alarm bell, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Commissioner, IS Chahal speaking to media personnel said that any residential building that has more than five Covid patients would be sealed.
People who are in home quarantine would have their hands sealed. In yet another proactive move, the government decided to appoint 300 people in local trains to monitor those who are not wearing masks. The government has a target of acting on 25,000 violators.
Similarly, raids on marriage halls, clubs and restaurants for checking on the Covid rule compliance. Passengers from Brazil arriving at Mumbai airport will have to compulsorily undergo institutional quarantine for seven days.
Chahal added that the Covid pandemic situation in Mumbai is under control when compared with June and July 2020. Still, the number of patients is rising therefore the citizens have to comply with the Covid rules.
