New Delhi: The Covid-19 cases continue to rise unabated and disappointingly, the deaths too are. India recorded 3,66,161 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day, which pushed the tally to 2,26,62,575, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Monday.
The death count climbed to 2,46,116 with 3,754 daily deaths, the data updated at 8 am showed. With the alarming trend continuing, the Union Minister Santosh Gangwar has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on shortage of oxygen and black marketing of ventilators in Bareilly about 250 km from state capital Lucknow.
It may be noted that the Chief Minister had denied about scarcity of oxygen in the state’s hospitals a fortnight ago. There is a scarcity of oxygen in Bareilly, which he represents in parliament, Mr Gangwar said. Ventilators and other medical equipment are being sold in the black market.
People in the Health department do not pick up phones, creating difficulty for Covid patients, he added.
