Bangalore: Cloudera has announced significant updates to its metadata management capabilities, focusing on improving open interoperability and addressing the rising needs for data security and governance. The enhancements aim to strengthen Cloudera’s position as a leading provider of hybrid platforms for data, analytics, and AI.
The updates include the introduction of Iceberg REST Catalog integration, which allows seamless access to Apache Iceberg tables through third-party engines. This feature enables enterprises to utilize various tools while maintaining unified security and governance across platforms. By simplifying data access and managing data permissions and lineage, the integration minimizes the risk of data breaches and reduces the cost associated with maintaining multiple security layers.
Additionally, Cloudera has introduced a cloud-native, containerized version of its Shared Data Experience (SDX), now available in technical preview. This enhancement provides end-to-end unified data security, governance, and metadata management with increased elasticity, scale, and performance. The updated SDX consolidates security functions, supports self-service data access across tools, and offers single-pane-of-glass management across both cloud and on-premises environments.
