Coldplay Fans Struggle with Ticketing, BookMyShow Moots Legal Action

Mumbai: Fans in India faced difficulties securing tickets for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour as ticket sales went live on BookMyShow. The platform experienced server crashes and long wait times, with around 1.3 crore people attempting to access the site. Some fans turned to resale platforms like Viagogo and Gigsberg, where ticket prices skyrocketed to as high as Rs 7.7 lakh.

BookMyShow, the official ticketing partner, filed a police complaint against ticket resales and warned fans about counterfeit tickets. The platform reiterated that only tickets purchased directly through their portal would be valid for entry, emphasizing that ticket scalping is illegal in India.

Resale prices for the concert far exceeded the official prices, which ranged from Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,500. Lounge section tickets on Viagogo were listed for up to Rs 3 lakh, while Level 1 tickets reached Rs 7.7 lakh. BookMyShow has pledged its cooperation in the ongoing police investigation.
