Bangalore: Vedanta is set to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in Rajasthan across zinc, oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors, creating over 2 lakh jobs. This was announced after a meeting between Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal during the Rising Rajasthan Roadshow in the UK.
As part of the plan, Hindustan Zinc will invest Rs 30,000 crore to double its zinc production and boost silver output. Cairn Oil & Gas will spend Rs 35,000 crore to increase oil production, and Serentica Renewables will invest Rs 50,000 crore in renewable energy projects.
The investment aims to support Rajasthan’s goal of becoming a $350 billion economy by 2030. Discussions also included plans to develop religious sites in Govardhan. Rajasthan’s government sees these investments as a big step towards boosting local industries and creating more jobs.
