Chennai: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government has announced new appointments to bolster its infrastructure and water resource management efforts. Senior IAS Mangat Ram Sharma has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Public Works Department (PWD).
IAS Mangat Ram Sharma (1992 batch), known for his administrative expertise, will now oversee critical infrastructure development projects across the state.
Meanwhile, IAS J Jayakanthan (2005 batch) has been named Secretary of the Water Resources Department. Jayakanthan’s appointment comes at a crucial time as Tamil Nadu intensifies its focus on sustainable water management and modernisation of water infrastructure.
The strategic reshuffle reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening key sectors vital for the state’s growth and environmental resilience. Both officers bring significant experience and are expected to drive forward important initiatives in their new roles.
