Agartala: Tripura is setting up a state-of-the-art cultural hub with funding from the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). An amount of Rs 32.5 crore has been initially allocated for the project.
The cultural hub will include a museum and other infrastructure that highlight the tribal cultural legacy of the state. It aims to preserve and promote the rich traditions and heritage of Tripura’s diverse communities.
Prestigious institutions like the National School of Drama, Lalit Kala Akademi and Sahitya Akademi are playing a pivotal role in this hub. The primary focus, though, will be on preserving and promoting the culture and traditions of indigenous people.
Traditional festivals like Buisu, Garia, Biju, Hajagiri and Wangala are being encouraged to promote harmony among diverse communities.
The Tripura government also plans a college focused on Karbook language in the Gomati district.
