Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has taken a significant step forward in its clean energy push by approving new renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 178 MW and an estimated investment of Rs 869.8 crore.Â
Key Projects Approved
The following key projects have been approved by the state government:
- A 69.5 MW solar park by Prozeal Green Energy Limited at Biramaharajpur in Subarnapur district
- A 49.5 MW solar project by INOX Solar Limited at Telkoi in the Keonjhar district
- A 10 MW solar plant by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda
- A 49.5 MW wind project by NLC India Renewables Limited in Papadahandi, Nabarangpur
Significance of the Initiative
These projects collectively add 128.5 MW of solar and 49.5 MW of wind energy, further strengthening Odisha’s renewable portfolio. Officials emphasized that the projects align with Odisha’s Renewable Purchase Obligations and contribute to India’s national climate goals. They are also expected to generate local employment and boost infrastructure in the host districts.Â
