Bhubaneswar: Odisha has achieved a major breakthrough in the textile sector investment with the signing of 33 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) totaling Rs 7,808 crore (approx. $902 million).Â
The announcement was made during the Odisha-TEX 2025 summit held in Bhubaneswar.
The government also announced the formation of a dedicated task force under the Industries Department to ensure fast-track implementation of projects and promised full administrative support to investors.
Employment Push and Policy Upgrades
The state aims to create over one lakh jobs in the textile and apparel sector by 2030. New textile clusters are planned for Bolangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack.
In a move to boost employment further, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced revised subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile & Apparel Policy 2022. Employment cost subsidies will increase from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 per month for male workers and from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 per month for female workers.
Strong Industry Participation
Odisha-TEX 2025 drew over 650 delegates, including major investors, textile brands, startups, and government officials. More than 160 companies took part, including industry leaders such as Page Industries, KPR Mills, Sportking, Adarsh Knitwear, and B.L. International.
With a clear vision, strong policy backing, and investor interest, Odisha is positioning itself as a key player in India’s growing textile and apparel landscape.
