A weaker US dollar and movements in US Treasury yields also remain important factors for bullion prices. Gold, which is denominated in dollars in international markets, can become relatively more attractive to holders of other currencies when the US currency weakens.
Domestic bullion prices, however, may vary between jewellers because of differences in local market conditions, taxes, margins and making charges. Jewellery prices also depend on the purity of gold, with 24-karat representing the highest purity and 22-karat commonly used in jewellery.
Investors and consumers are expected to monitor global economic data, central bank policy signals and geopolitical developments for further direction in precious-metal prices.
