Mumbai, September 3 (APAC Media): The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) for 220 MW of solar power.
The agreement includes a 110 MW/440 MWh Energy Storage System (ESS) to support BEST’s renewable energy needs and help manage peak power demand.
Solar Power at Rs 2.87 per Unit
BEST will procure solar power at around Rs 2.87 per unit from renewable energy projects in Maharashtra. The agreement will also help BEST meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) requirements and increase the share of renewable energy in its power portfolio.
Agreement Signed on August 31
The PPA was signed by BEST General Manager Dr Sonia Sethi, SECI Executive Director Atulya Naik and Deputy General Manager Sanjeev Singh. Senior officials from BEST’s electricity department were also present.
The energy storage system is expected to improve the management of renewable power and support electricity demand during peak periods.
