New Delhi, September 3(APAC Media): Google has announced its September Android Drop with five new features focused on AI, accessibility, messaging and everyday smartphone use.
Gemini And Find Hub
One of the notable additions is a feature that lets Gemini remember where users have placed important items. Users can tell Gemini where they kept items such as passports or spare keys, with the information saved in Find Hub. The feature is coming to Android 16 and newer devices in supported markets. Google also clarifies that it does not provide the real-time location of the item.
Motion Assist And Guided Vision
Google is also adding Motion Assist for Android 17 phones. It places moving bubbles over the display to help reduce the mismatch between visual information and vehicle movement, which can contribute to motion sickness. Users can also customize the overlay and add it to Quick Settings.
Guided Vision brings camera-based assistance to Gemini Live. It can help users read small text, identify objects and understand their surroundings through audio guidance. The feature is designed with accessibility use cases in mind and is coming to Android 9 and newer devices where Gemini is available.
Google Messages Gets More Features
Google Messages is also getting Google Keep integration, allowing people in a chat to create and edit shared notes or grocery lists without leaving the conversation. The rollout has started. Google is also making chat themes available, letting users set different backgrounds and colours for individual conversations.
The September Android Drop is being delivered separately from a full Android OS upgrade, with availability varying by feature, device and market.
