Agartala: The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) will supply 40 MW of electricity to Mizoram during the Christmas season.
This is part of a longstanding arrangement of power exchange between the two neighbouring states.
Mizoram will begin drawing the 40 MW power from Tripura during December and January. This will coincide with the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The initiative reflects the continued cooperation between Tripura and Mizoram in a quid pro quo manner in maintaining steady power availability during major festivals.
Earlier, during Durga Puja, Mizoram had supplied an equal quantum of 40 MW to Tripura to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply across the state.
Though Tripura did not draw the entire allocation as demand remained lower than expected. The estimate was 363 MW, but demand stayed between 290 MW and 320 MW, peaking only on Maha Ashtami at 360 MW.
