Amaravati: Sarla Aviation has taken a major step toward building India’s largest integrated aerospace facility with the signing of a formal MoU for its 500-acre aerospace giga campus.

The document was personally handed over by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the presence of Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and State Minister for Roads and Buildings and Infrastructure and Investment, B.C. Janardhan Reddy.

The company acknowledged the strong support from Minister Reddy, noting that his guidance has been central to enabling the project.

Next-Generation eVTOL Manufacturing Hub

The upcoming campus will be a next-generation urban air mobility facility focused on manufacturing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Backed by an initial investment of 1,300 crore rupees and more investment planned in later phases, the project aims to position India as a global contender in advanced aviation technologies.

Sarla Aviation stated that the facility will help India become a key player in the next era of flight, shape future aircraft systems, and create thousands of skilled jobs. The company added that its goal is to enable India to design, build, test, and operate advanced eVTOL systems from one integrated site.

Fully Integrated Aerospace Ecosystem

Once commissioned, the giga campus will be India’s first end-to-end ecosystem for eVTOL manufacturing, flight testing, certification, training, and maintenance. Designed to meet global aerospace standards, it will have the capacity to produce as many as one thousand aircraft each year, placing it among the largest eVTOL production hubs in the world.

The campus will include advanced manufacturing lines for composites, powertrains, wire harnesses, landing gear, flight control computers, and embedded systems. It will also feature India’s largest wind tunnel, a two-kilometer runway, and dedicated VTOL test pads. Modern R&D labs, simulation environments, pilot training centers, and MRO units will support the entire aircraft lifecycle within the country.

Sustainability and Future-Ready Infrastructure

According to the company, sustainability is central to the facility’s design. Plans include renewable energy systems, water recycling, zero-liquid-discharge processes, and circular-economy practices for metals and composites. Green buffers and biodiversity zones will support responsible development.

Boost to India’s Aerospace Value Chain

The mega project is expected to strengthen India’s aerospace ecosystem by increasing high-tech employment, supporting MSMEs, and reducing dependence on imported technologies. By manufacturing key aircraft components within the country, Sarla Aviation aims to accelerate India’s growth as a global hub for UAM manufacturing and operations.
