Noida, June 1 (APAC Media): Public and private sector banks across India will remain closed for one day during the week of June 1–7, 2026, in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar.
The RBI has scheduled a total of 11 bank holidays in June, including national, regional, and religious observances, as well as routine weekend closures. The holiday count includes all Sundays, along with the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
While several bank holidays are applicable only in specific states and regions, bank branches nationwide will remain closed on gazetted national holidays. Customers are advised to check the holiday schedule applicable to their respective states before planning branch visits.
Customers planning to visit branches of State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, and other lenders are advised to check the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar in advance, as both public and private sector bank branches will remain closed on designated holidays during the month.
According to the holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India, banks across India will observe closures on several dates in June 2026 under the Negotiable Instruments Act and the “Banks’ Closing of Accounts” category.
All banks will remain closed on 7 June 2026 (Sunday) as part of the weekly holiday schedule.
As per the RBI calendar, the following regional holidays are also scheduled:
On 15 June 2026, banks will remain closed in Aizawl on the occasion of the founding day of the Young Mizo Association (YMA). On the same day, banking operations will also be suspended in Bhubaneswar to mark Raja Sankranti.
Further, on 25 June 2026, banks will remain closed in Vijayawada in observance of Muharram.
The RBI’s holiday list includes state-specific observances, meaning banking operations will vary across regions depending on local festivals and notifications.
Banking operations will remain suspended on June 26, 2026 in several parts of the country on account of Muharram, according to the holiday schedule issued by the Reserve Bank of India.
Branches will remain closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Srinagar.
