Noida, Sep 14 (APAC Media): The Ministry of Women and Child Development has invited applications from women students, scholars, social activists and teachers for its two-month internship programme for the August-September term.
The programme is open to women students, scholars, social activists and teachers who are enrolled in or associated with any university or academic or non-academic institution, the Ministry said.
Women candidates aged between 21 and 40 years from non-Tier-I cities and rural areas of India are eligible to apply, it said.
“Through this initiative, the Ministry aims to tap young talent by providing opportunities to contribute to improved implementation of schemes and engage with policy processes,” the Ministry said.
The programme also provides interns with the opportunity to undertake research and engage meaningfully with government initiatives. “Interns can contribute through empirical analysis, reports, policy papers and briefs,” the ministry said.
The internship will carry a stipend of Rs 20,000 per month for the two-month duration. Selected interns will also be provided free shared hostel accommodation in New Delhi and reimbursement of round-trip AC train or bus travel, according to the Ministry.
The internship programme is conducted in four terms during the financial year — May-June, August-September, November-December and February-March — with each term lasting two months.
“For every term, applications are accepted two months prior to the commencement of each term, between the 1st and 10th of the month,” the Ministry added.
For the August-September term, eligible candidates can apply between June 1 and 10, while applications for the May-June term are accepted from March 1 to 10, it said.
Prospective interns are required to submit their applications online through the Ministry’s Internship Programme portal, wcd.intern.nic.in.
The Ministry also clarified that a candidate selected for the internship once will not be eligible to apply for any subsequent term.
“Any candidate once selected for the internship shall not be eligible to apply for any subsequent term,” the Ministry noted.
