Noida, Oct 23 (APAC Media): Adani Power on Friday reported a 142 per cent year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 7,019 crore for the second quarter of FY27, up from Rs 2,906 crore in the corresponding period last year, according to a regulatory filing.
Similarly, the company reported a 91.4 per cent year-on-year increase in profit after tax to Rs 11,885.92 crore in the first half of FY27, compared with Rs 6,211.59 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
Adani Power’s continuing operating revenue rose 29.8 per cent year-on-year to Rs 17,014.06 crore in the second quarter of FY27, compared with Rs 13,106.34 crore in the year-ago period, driven by higher power demand, increased power purchase agreement (PPA) tariffs and improved merchant realisations.
The company said higher power demand boosted volumes, while a sharp rise in imported coal prices supported higher PPA tariffs and merchant realisations.
Fuel costs increased 41.8 per cent to Rs 10,229.38 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs 7,216.23 crore in the corresponding period last year, primarily due to higher volumes and a 50 per cent increase in the landed cost of imported coal.
For the first half of FY27, fuel costs rose 36 per cent year-on-year to Rs 19,768.50 crore, compared with Rs 14,535.04 crore in the year-ago period.
Adani Power’s continuing EBITDA increased 18.5 per cent to Rs 6,320.97 crore in Q2 FY27, from Rs 5,332.71 crore a year earlier, supported by higher volumes, improved tariffs, better merchant realisations and control over operating expenses despite elevated fuel costs.
For H1 FY27, continuing EBITDA grew 20.1 per cent to Rs 13,303.71 crore, compared with Rs 11,076.33 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
“Adani Power continues to achieve new milestones in profitability and project execution, focusing on ensuring a reliable and high-quality power supply to meet India’s growing baseload demand. Geopolitical developments and climate uncertainties have reinforced the importance of domestic coal-based power in meeting the country’s long-term energy needs, and we are proud to lead capacity additions to support India’s requirement for 100 GW of new thermal power capacity by 2032,” said S. B. Khyalia, CEO of Adani Power Ltd.
Higher power demand in the power purchase agreement (PPA), merchant and short-term markets drove an increase in power sales volumes in the second quarter of FY27 compared with the year-ago period, Adani Power said.
Power sales under PPAs rose 29.7 per cent year-on-year to 23.4 billion units (BU) in Q2 FY27, while tariff realisation increased 12.7 per cent to Rs 6.4 per kWh on a continuing basis.
Merchant and short-term power realisation improved 33.1 per cent to Rs 7.2 per kWh during the quarter, driven by stronger demand.
However, volumes supplied in these markets declined 43 per cent year-on-year due to additional tie-ups of available capacity under medium-term contracts, the company said.
Adani Power Ltd (APL) has been declared the successful resolution applicant for GVK Energy Ltd (GVKEL), which operates the 330 MW Alaknanda hydroelectric power plant in Uttarakhand.
The company has received a letter of award (LOA) from Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd for supplying power from a 1,320 MW supercritical thermal power capacity, with a net capacity of 1,234 MW, under a 25-year power supply agreement.
Adani Power and Bhutan-based Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd have signed a shareholders’ agreement to develop the 770 MW Chamkarchhu hydropower project in Thimphu.
CARE Ratings and India Ratings have upgraded Adani Power’s credit rating to ‘AA+; Stable’ from ‘AA; Stable’, citing its strong financial and operational performance, market position, diversified portfolio and revenue visibility.
Meanwhile, the scheme for the amalgamation of Adani Power with 10 wholly owned subsidiaries became effective on September 25, 2026, following approval by the Ahmedabad and Mumbai benches of the National Company Law Tribunal and fulfilment of the required conditions.
