New Delhi, Oct 7(APAC Media): Google Cloud has appointed Amit Kumar as interim head of its India business, replacing Sashikumar Sreedharan, who is leaving the company after a three-year stint.
Amit Kumar Takes Charge
Kumar has been with Google Cloud since March 2021. He currently leads the company’s digital native business in India, working with startups and other digital-first companies.
Before joining Google Cloud, Kumar served as India country sales manager for Apple’s enterprise and education business. He also spent more than 13 years at Microsoft and previously worked with IBM and Tata Telecom.
Sreedharan became managing director of Google Cloud India in July 2025 after serving as chief operating officer for APAC. He will now leave the company to pursue other opportunities.
Google Cloud India Strategy
Karan Bajwa, President, Asia Pacific, Google Cloud, confirmed the leadership change in a LinkedIn post and said the company would continue focusing on its growth in India.
The change comes as Google Cloud competes with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services in India’s growing cloud market. Rising enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence is also increasing demand for cloud infrastructure and AI platforms.
Google Cloud currently operates cloud regions in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. In 2025, Google announced a $15 billion investment in an AI hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, planned over five years.
The company has also expanded its AI engineering operations in India as businesses look to move AI applications from pilot projects to production.
