Bengaluru, Oct 8(APAC Media): Karnataka has partnered with ElevenLabs to explore the use of voice AI in government services, skilling and accessibility.
The Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ElevenLabs at the company’s India Summit in Bengaluru. The partnership will focus on using voice AI in Kannada for citizen services and grievance redressal.
The two sides will also explore responsible AI and voice restoration technology. The agreement marks ElevenLabs’ first partnership with an Indian state government.
Voice AI For Kannada And Government Services
The partnership comes as companies expand the use of conversational AI beyond text-based applications. ElevenLabs is developing voice technology that can understand spoken language and support real-time interactions.
The company currently supports 14 Indian languages and plans to expand to all 22 official Indian languages. India’s multilingual users are also driving demand for AI tools that can handle conversations across different languages.
AI Accessibility And Voice Restoration
ElevenLabs is also working on applications for people who have lost their ability to speak because of medical conditions. The company has launched an initiative to restore voices for people affected by conditions such as ALS, cerebral palsy, throat cancer and multiple sclerosis.
The company has also signed a national-level agreement with organisations working on disability inclusion and accessibility.
The Karnataka partnership will now explore how voice AI can be applied to public services while addressing issues around responsible AI, accessibility and the use of voice data.
