Bengaluru: Every year, since the past few years, Oracle organises the Oracle APAC Startup Idol, where shortlisted startups and innovators are invited to showcase their unique product offering and cutting edge technologies before an audience of industry analysts.
This year at the Oracle APAC Startup Idol 2022 held in January 2022, over 50 analysts from Gartner, IDC, Forrester, Ecosystm, Omdia, CapioIT, Telsyte, ADAPT and Greyhound voted live to shortlist winners from a group of six startups who are all members of the Oracle Startup Program.
Bangaluru based DeepVisionTech, a social startup with a vision to empower people with disabilities by building AI based innovative solutions – won two of the three awards; one for the most creative startup pitch, and the other for the best innovative solution and Hyderabased startup TensorGo Technologies was the other winner who impressed analysts with the breadth of examples of how its solution is used, and won Best Overall Pitch.
About DeepVision Tech
DeepVision has developed an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure-based AI powered device-agnostic platform called ‘Let’sTalkSign’ that enables easy two-way communication between deaf, speech & hearing impaired people who use sign language and others who do not know sign language. It helps deaf and speech-and-hearing-impaired people to live more independently, while helping businesses become more inclusive towards the deaf.
‘Let’sTalkSign’ uses deep learning techniques embedded in an app that doesn’t rely on expensive additional hardware. It provides speech and text to sign interpretation and signing can be simulated by a 3D avatar. It is expressive, with facial expressions, body language, finger movements. To provide the first high-tech solution in the Indian market for the deaf community, the startup collaborated with multiple partners including the National Institute of Speech and Hearing.
The startup plans to focus on Indian sign language first, bringing its technology to deaf individuals, inclusive businesses, and educational institutions in India before applying its AI and computer vision techniques to sign language used in other countries.

Some of the other startups that participated in the Oracle APAC Startup Idol 2022 included:
Thailand’s BOTNOI Group – which aims to solve the shortage of expert workers like nurses using AI chatbots. Its products are used by more than 50 enterprises across retail, finance, and healthcare, including Allianz and BMW.
Colakin from Australia, presented a solution that solves the problem of finding the right-sized clothes in shops and online. The startup’s app helps users understand their body measurements and recommends clothes that will suit them in-store and online, using natural language processing via Oracle, and blockchain for security.
Another Australia based startup DekkoSecure delivers military-grade collaboration security to keep data secure. Its app-based solution, which makes end-to-end encryption invisible to its users, lets them share and communicate highly sensitive and confidential information with internal and external parties. It is currently used by state law enforcement in New South Wales, including banks, law firms, and defense contractors.
