NOIDA: The Hiranandani Group plans to set up a semiconductor park on 91 acres in Sector 28 in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. Darshan Hiranandani, CEO of the company, confirmed the development to TOI on Tuesday. “Yes, we have applied and are awaiting approval,” he said.
The company had signed a deal with the UP government during the February 2023 UP Global Investors Summit and proposed to invest Rs 17,000 crore under the project.
YEIDA officials said that once established, it would be the second such park in the country after the semiconductor and display manufacturing facility coming up in Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) near Ahmedabad, Gujarat. India’s Vedanta Limited, jointly with Taiwanese company Foxconn, is undertaking that project.
YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh said, “Hiranandani Group’s Tarq Semiconductors Private Limited applied with the Central government under the Indian Semiconductor Mission scheme nearly a week ago, submitting a fee of Rs 50 lakh. The company has also sent its application to the state government. Once approved by the Centre, the state cabinet would allot the land. On our part, we have identified 91 acres in Sector 28.”
According to the MoU, Tarq will set up semiconductor assembly, testing and packaging (ATP) plants.
“The project plan is to introduce three distinct semiconductor ATP production lines: legacy, mature and complex. ATP plant 1 shall be constructed and commissioned over 24 months in phase 1 of the project. ATP plants 2 and 3 shall be subsequently constructed and commissioned over the next 24 months in phase 2 of the project,” read the MoU. The project is likely to give employment to 1,000 people. Officials said the company might get the green signal from the Centre and state in the next 15-20 days.
In a letter to the YEIDA last month, CEO Hiranandani said the company anticipated an investment of over Rs 2500 crore in the first phase.
“Our group is already successfully operating in Uttar Pradesh. Our data centre division here is Yotta Data Services Pvt Ltd. Now, we are interested in expanding our footprint by piloting our semiconductor division project in Uttar Pradesh,” the CEO said in the letter.
