AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has for the first time floated a tender to manage its social media accounts after the civic body chief restricted the officials from overspending. Sources in the AMC said that earlier, the civic body used to give the social media management contract to the agency of their choice without following the tendering process.
However, AMC chief M Thennarasan has ordered the departments to not indulge in unnecessary expenditure, forcing the civic body to float a tender. According to sources, the tender that was issued on Tuesday is of around Rs 50 lakh. Sources said that, earlier, the AMC used to spend around Rs 6 lakh per annum for the work.
The tender conditions include ensuring an increase in AMC handles’ follower count, content creation, visiting various facilities of the AMC and making reels, and posting photographs and text. The selected agency will also be responsible for conceptualization and content development.
The agency will be selected based on their score out of 120 marks on parameters such as past performance and their presentation. Sources said it is not clear whether the chosen agency will manage only departmental social media handles of the AMC or accounts of functionaries as well.
