Agartala: Tripura’s Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, recently declared plans to provide drone operation training to rural women in the state, aimed at enhancing agricultural practices. Speaking at the virtual inauguration of National Skill Training Institute (Women) CM Saha highlighted the significance of empowering women with drone technology for tasks like fertiliser spraying in fields.
Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, was also present during the inauguration.
Emphasising his government’s commitment to advancing the agriculture and agri-management sector, CM Saha revealed plans to introduce stone technology and promote the active involvement of rural women. The institute, sprawling across 4.12 acres in Anandnagar, Agartala, intends to equip women with vocational skills for both wage employment and self-employment opportunities.
Currently, the NSTI has enrolled 102 students and plans to admit an additional 200 to meet the rising demand for skilled professionals. CM Saha reiterated his government’s dedication to skill development and women empowerment, citing the Tripura State Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2022, as a pivotal framework to encourage gender equality and economic empowerment.
