Bengaluru: N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, has been named the new Chairman of Tata Electronics. He is replacing Banmali Agrawala, who is transitioning into an advisory role within the company.
Starting out as an intern at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in 1987, Chandrasekaran was appointed its CEO in 2009 before eventually leading the entire Tata Group. He is the first chairman of Tata Sons to have attained the position without familial ties.
Chandrasekaran has a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, a master’s in computer engineering from the Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, and an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
