New Delhi: The Delhi government has introduced a WhatsApp-based system that allows residents to view and pay traffic fines directly through the app. This new service, launched by the Transport Department, aims to make it simpler for people to handle traffic challans without missing notifications or needing to navigate the department’s website.
With the new system, drivers will receive instant notifications for any traffic fines, along with a direct payment link. Officials hope this will help reduce the number of unpaid fines and make it easier for both residents and traffic authorities to manage the process. Currently, about 1,000 to 1,500 vehicles in Delhi are fined daily, and this move is expected to cut down on manual work for enforcement teams.
The Transport Department is also planning other updates, like an online process for applying for and renewing driving licenses, which could further ease access to essential services for residents.
