New Delhi: AI Touch LLP has been awarded funding under the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme, now rebranded under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) as “Digital Bharat Nidhi.”
The grant will support the development of advanced components for a disaggregated 5G Radio Access Network (RAN), including the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), Service Management and Orchestration (SMO), and Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF) modules.
The project seeks to create a platform that integrates SMO, RIC, and NWDAF with an AI/ML-powered intent engine to enable intelligent and automated control of 5G RAN and Core nodes. The platform will demonstrate AI-driven applications for managing user experiences during congestion and will provide interfaces for onboarding third-party applications.
By incorporating Non-Real-Time RIC, Near-Real-Time RIC, SMO, and NWDAF, the platform will enhance network automation and improve operational efficiency.
The RIC modules will focus on AI/ML-based network optimization, the SMO will enable cross-domain orchestration, and the NWDAF will deliver data analytics for better decision-making. These components will streamline 5G network operations, reduce complexities, and increase cost efficiency for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).
The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), India’s premier telecom R&D organization under DoT, will oversee the project’s implementation.
Highlighting the initiative’s significance, Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, stated, “By facilitating collaboration between industry leaders like AI Touch, we are enabling the creation of indigenous solutions that will strengthen India’s telecom ecosystem.”
Dr. Parag Agarwal, Deputy Director General (DDG) of TTDF, remarked, “This project by AI Touch not only drives AI-driven advancements but also lays the foundation for a self-reliant 5G ecosystem. Through the TTDF scheme, we are fostering innovation in India’s telecom sector.”
Amit Gupta, Partner at AI Touch, emphasized the project’s transformative potential: “Our focus is on leveraging AI and ML to create predictive capabilities and automation frameworks within RIC and NWDAF. This ensures that the platform is equipped to handle complex network challenges with accuracy.”
The platform’s development will contribute significantly to India’s indigenous 5G ecosystem. It will enable MNOs to manage networks more efficiently, reduce operational costs, and support emerging telecom applications.
The initiative aligns with India’s vision for technological self-reliance and innovation-driven growth in the telecom sector.
This project further strengthens the role of TTDF as a key enabler for telecom technology development, showcasing India’s ability to produce world-class AI-driven solutions for next-generation networks.
