Pune: Tata Technologies has teamed up with semiconductor company Telechips to create software for next-generation software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The announcement was made at CES 2025, underlining the shift toward smarter, more connected cars.
What the Partnership Will Do
The collaboration will focus on key areas, such as:
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): Making driving safer by helping cars detect and respond to their surroundings.
Cockpit and Gateway Controllers: Improving how different car systems communicate for better safety and connectivity.
Scalable Software Platforms: Developing flexible systems for autonomous and electric vehicles.
Tata Technologies will provide its expertise in vehicle software, while Telechips will supply semiconductor technology like processors for AI, vision systems, and faster communication networks. The goal is to help carmakers solve challenges like integrating hardware and software, speeding up production, and making cars safer and greener.
AI and Sustainability at the Core
Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a big role in this collaboration, helping cars make better decisions and improving safety. Telechips’ advanced processors will make communication within vehicles faster, while also supporting greener transportation goals.
Part of a Larger Trend
This partnership follows Tata Technologies’ July 2024 tie-up with Arm, which aimed to speed up SDV development using energy-efficient technologies. These collaborations highlight the growing focus on creating smart, connected, and sustainable cars.
“This partnership will combine Telechips’ semiconductor technology with our expertise in vehicle software to help manufacturers create competitive SDVs,” said Warren Harris, CEO of Tata Technologies.
The move reflects a broader trend in the automotive industry, where technology companies are working together to address the rising demand for connected and autonomous vehicles.
