New Delhi, May 15 (APAC Media): Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale has been assigned additional charge as Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) following the relinquishment of charge by Prof. Abhay Karandikar.
According to an official order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet under the Department of Personnel and Training, the Competent Authority approved the arrangement until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dr. Gokhale currently serves as Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology and will now additionally oversee the Department of Science and Technology, a key ministry involved in scientific research, innovation, and technology development in India.
Prof. Abhay Karandikar had been serving as Secretary of DST since October 3, 2023. Before that, he served as Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur till September 2023.Â
