The West Bengal government is planning to increase the number of industrial parks dedicated to MSMEs in the state.
Currently there are 58 industrial parks in the state dedicated to MSMEs. Another 12 industrial parks are being developed, 10 are in the application stage while another 40 are being developed under the SAIP scheme.
With West Bengal already being #1 in the MSME charts in the country, several ministers of the State Cabinet appealed to investors to set up even more parks during the North 24 Parganas MSME Synergy convention yesterday.
These industrial parks are being developed in land areas north of 5 acres across North 24 Parganas especially targeting manufacturing of textile and equipments for the defence sector. The total proposal for quantum of investment was Rs 4100 crore likely to increase to Rs 8500 crore and provide employment to 1.50 L people.
In North 24 Parganas itself, 2 parks have been sanctioned at Ghola and Garh Shyamnagar across 57 acres at an investment of Rs 1500 crore employing 1800 people.
Two more Integrated Textile parks are coming up in Ashoknagar and Banipur across 49 acres at an investment of Rs 210 crore and providing employment for 1500 people.
