New Delhi:Â L&T Technology Services (LTTS), BITS Pilani, and the Center for Research and Excellence in National Security (CRENS) have entered into a formal partnership to co-develop technologies and training programs focused on national security.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus, outlines a multi-pronged collaboration that includes applied research in cybersecurity, digital forensics, perimeter security, and support for startups innovating in the defence tech space.

Under this partnership, LTTS and BITS Pilani will jointly work on projects targeting real-world security challenges. These include the use of AI, quantum computing, and advanced communication systems to develop tools for public safety and digital investigation.
CRENS, hosted at the Hyderabad campus, will serve as the central research node, involving professionals from law enforcement, defence, and academia. Experts with backgrounds in the armed forces and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) are also expected to contribute to the projects.
Short-Term Training and Industry Upskilling
The collaboration will also focus on workforce development through short-term thematic training and certification programs. These will cater to professionals from industries aligned with cybersecurity and critical infrastructure, aiming to close the skills gap in India’s security-related sectors.
Startup Mentorship and Innovation Pipeline
As part of its innovation drive, the partnership will support early-stage startups through mentorship and incubation programs. These efforts are designed to encourage local innovation in sensitive technology domains and bring them closer to market readiness.
Policy Support and Infrastructure Sharing
LTTS and BITS Pilani have agreed to pool their research infrastructure and offer policy advisory services to national agencies. The collaboration will also co-host conferences and bootcamps aimed at knowledge-sharing and addressing security policy gaps.
This initiative aligns with India’s broader goal to build a self-reliant ecosystem in defence and public safety technology, while fostering cross-sectoral research partnerships.
