Noida: Centre has approved a Rs 416.34 crore extension of the Noida Metro’s Aqua Line by 2.6 km from Depot station to Bodaki in Greater Noida, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announced on 24 July.
The extension will link to a proposed multimodal logistics hub in Bodaki and is expected to be completed within three years.
According to reports, the extended corridor will also branch out to Junpat village, enhancing access to remote pockets of Greater Noida.
This project will be executed through a special-purpose vehicle, built using standard-gauge tracks with a 15kV AC overhead traction system and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) for operations.
Of the total project cost, Rs 211.80 crore will be contributed by institutions such as the NCR Planning Board, while the central government will provide Rs 70.59 crore.
The Uttar Pradesh government will invest Rs 91.08 crore as equity, and Rs 10.44 crore has been allocated for land acquisition.
Meanwhile, two other proposed extensions, the 11.56 km Botanical Garden to Sector 142 route and a 5 km stretch from Sector 51 to Knowledge Park 5, are awaiting central approval.
The Botanical Garden corridor is especially critical as it would provide seamless integration between the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line and Noida Metro’s Aqua Line.
NMRC has already completed a topographical survey along the 11.56 km route to map the area’s buildings, infrastructure and terrain in preparation for construction.
