Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed senior IPS Binod Kumar Singh as the state’s new Director General (DG) of Cyber.Â
A 1994-batch officer of the UP cadre, Singh will now lead the state’s cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention strategies.
Before this promotion, Singh was serving as Additional Director General (ADG) Crime and had also handled cybercrime responsibilities in earlier roles. Over his 31-year-long career, he has served in several key districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Siddharthnagar, Mirzapur, Banda, Sonbhadra, Bijnor, and Allahabad. He has also been posted as SSP in Faizabad, Allahabad, and Bulandshahr. In June 2023, he was appointed as ADG in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and had earlier served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the then Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.
Singh’s service record includes several prestigious honors such as the President’s Gallantry Medal, Commendable Service Medal, and Excellent Service Medal. Beyond state policing, he has contributed at the national level as well.Â
