New Delhi: Senior IAS Shalini Pandit has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Union Ministry of Finance.Â
The appointment was announced through a formal notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions on Saturday.
Pandit, a 2001-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, will serve a tenure of five years from the date she assumes charge or until further orders. Her posting marks another example of high-performing officers from the Odisha cadre taking on key roles in the Union Government.
The Department of Financial Services oversees crucial sectors, including banking, insurance, and pensions, making her new role significant in shaping financial sector policies and operations.
Before this appointment, Pandit was serving as Commissioner-cum-Secretary in the Department of School and Mass Education for the Odisha Government. In that role, she contributed to several educational reforms and governance improvements in the state. Her experience is expected to support her transition into this important central role.
