Gandhinagar:Â Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC), the state-owned mining enterprise, has appointed senior IAS Sandeep Kumar as Director.
The appointment has been made as per an order issued by the Government of Gujarat. Kumar replaces IAS Arti Kanwar on the Board. His appointment will be subject to approval by the shareholders at a subsequent general meeting of GMDC.
Kumar is currently serving as Secretary (Economic Affairs) in the Finance Department of the Government of Gujarat. He brings with him over two decades of experience in public administration. During his career, he has held key positions across several departments, including Agriculture, Home, and the power sector.
His areas of expertise span urban development, law and order, energy, land revenue, and rural development. The appointment is viewed as a strategic move that strengthens the connection between GMDC and the state’s economic and financial planning framework, potentially enabling a closer alignment of the company’s operations with Gujarat’s broader economic objectives.
