Noida, June 13 (APAC Media): IAS Niraj Verma has been given the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, as the Centre on Friday issued a series of key bureaucratic orders involving senior officers.
The decisions include fresh assignments and tenure extensions across important ministries.
IAS Niraj currently serves as Secretary, Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Niraj Verma to Hold Additional Charge for a Week
According to the official order, Verma will discharge the additional responsibilities for a week, from June 13 to June 19, 2026.
He will look after the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs during the leave period of IAS Nikunja Bihari Dhal, 1993, Odisha cadre, who is the incumbent Secretary. The arrangement has been made to ensure smooth functioning of the ministry during Dhal’s absence.
Mrunmai Shashank Joshi Moves to Finance Ministry
In another development, IAS Mrunmai Shashank Joshi, 2013 batch, Kerala cadre has been shifted to the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance. He is currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat,
The appointment has been made on a lateral shift basis. He will continue in the new role till March 21, 2027.
The Department of Economic Affairs is one of the most important wings of the Finance Ministry and is responsible for economic policy, financial regulations and macroeconomic management.
Two-Year Extension for Uday Gaurishankar
The government has also approved a two-year extension for Chaudhari IAS Uday Gaurishankar 2010 batch, Maharashtra Cadre. He is serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
His tenure has been extended beyond June 23, 2026, allowing him to continue in the ministry at a time when climate action, environmental governance and sustainability remain major policy priorities.
The latest appointments and extensions are part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to ensure continuity and strengthen administrative leadership across important ministries.
