New Delhi, June 8(CXO Media): IndiGo has set a target of carrying 200 million passengers annually by FY30, even as it scales back some international operations and returns one of its leased Boeing 787 Dreamliners due to rising costs and operational challenges.
The airline unveiled its long-term growth strategy during its Analyst Day 2026 presentation, outlining plans to expand its international footprint, increase fleet size and strengthen revenue streams beyond ticket sales. The announcement comes weeks after IndiGo suspended services on six international routes for part of the year and decided to discontinue flights to Manchester from August 31.
International Expansion Remains Key Focus
IndiGo said international operations are expected to account for nearly 40% of its total capacity by 2030. The carrier currently serves 44 international destinations, compared with just five a decade ago, and plans to expand further across Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The airline expects deliveries of nine Airbus A321XLR aircraft in FY27, which will allow it to launch longer routes to destinations such as Athens, Istanbul, Bali and Seoul. The carrier is also preparing for the induction of Airbus A350 widebody aircraft to support future long-haul expansion.
Premium And Cargo Businesses Gain Importance
Alongside network growth, IndiGo plans to increase premium seating capacity through its IndiGoStretch product, targeting more than 4,300 premium seats per day by March 2027.
Cargo operations are also expected to expand, with volumes projected to rise from around 360,000 tonnes in FY26 to more than 450,000 tonnes by FY30. The airline is additionally focusing on ancillary revenues, including seat selection, baggage services, upgrades and loyalty-led offerings through its BluChip programme.
IndiGo ended FY26 with a free cash balance of Rs 362 billion and said future expansion would remain focused on maintaining financial discipline while investing in aircraft, technology and operational capacity.
