New Delhi, June 22(CXO Media): Okta and Google Cloud have expanded their partnership to address a growing challenge facing enterprises: securing AI agents and browser-based work environments. According to data cited by the companies, 92% of executives report moderate or widespread use of AI agents, but only 34% of organizations currently apply equivalent security controls to those systems.
The partnership introduces deeper integration between Okta’s identity platform and Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. The goal is to help enterprises manage AI agents with verified identities, centralized access controls, and human oversight mechanisms.
New capabilities include user authentication for AI agents, authorization controls, token management for secure access to third-party services, and human approval checkpoints for high-risk actions. The companies are also working on a centralized registry that links AI agents to human owners, helping organizations improve accountability and visibility across large AI deployments.
The collaboration also focuses on browser-level security as organizations increasingly rely on web-based applications and AI-powered workflows. Okta and Google are integrating Chrome Enterprise security features with Okta’s identity platform to help organizations detect threats, verify device security, and reduce risks linked to session hijacking and credential theft.
The companies highlighted a 127% year-over-year increase in identity-based attacks involving stolen browser session tokens, underscoring the need for stronger controls around browser access and authentication. As enterprises expand AI adoption, identity management and governance are emerging as key security priorities. The Okta-Google Cloud partnership reflects a broader industry shift toward treating AI agents as managed digital identities rather than standalone software tools.
