Noida, July 13 (APAC Media): Gold prices in India’s retail market declined on Monday as renewed geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran weighed on bullion sentiment.
The two countries exchanged strikes amid heightened concerns over developments around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, prompting volatility in global markets.
Both 24-carat and 22-carat gold prices recorded marginal declines across major Indian cities, while silver prices also moved lower in the domestic bullion market.
On the futures market, MCX gold contracts were trading 1.14 percent lower at ₹142,450 per 10 grams, while MCX silver futures declined around 2.15 percent to ₹218,230 per kg, according to market data.

Investors are also closely tracking global economic indicators, inflation trends, and expectations regarding interest rates, which remain key drivers of precious metal prices.
The decline in prices is expected to attract retail buyers, particularly those planning jewelry purchases or investing in physical gold.
Jewelers said lower prices often encourage demand, although the final purchase cost depends on additional charges, including goods and services tax (GST) and making charges.

Industry experts advised consumers to verify the hallmark certification and purity of gold before making purchases. Hallmarked 22-carat and 24-carat gold continue to be the preferred choice among buyers because of their quality assurance and better resale value.
Analysts said gold is likely to remain supported over the medium term despite day-to-day fluctuations, as global economic uncertainty and geopolitical developments continue to sustain demand for safe-haven assets. Silver prices are also expected to remain sensitive to movements in industrial demand and international market trends.
Consumers and investors are advised to monitor daily bullion rates before making purchase decisions, as domestic prices are revised regularly in line with changes in international markets and currency movements.
