Noida, Oct 26 (APAC Media): Gold prices were volatile in domestic and international markets on Monday as investors assessed movements in crude oil prices, geopolitical developments and expectations ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy meeting.
Spot gold declined 0.07% to just above $3,999 per ounce in early trade, while US gold futures fell 0.22% to $3,999.10 per ounce. Prices subsequently showed signs of recovery towards $4,012 an ounce, reflecting continued uncertainty in the global bullion market.
Gold had lost more than 4% last week, marking its sharpest weekly decline since June, as rising bond yields and changing expectations about US interest rates weighed on the precious metal.

In Mumbai, 24-carat gold was quoted at Rs 141,700 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at Rs 129,800 per 10 grams, according to Market Data. Retail rates may vary across cities due to local taxes, jeweller margins and making charges.
Crude Oil Prices Decline
Crude oil prices eased in early trade after approaching six-month highs last week. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell around 1.55% to $101.67 per barrel, while Brent crude declined approximately 1.34% to $115.16 per barrel.
Despite the decline, oil prices remained elevated amid concerns over potential supply disruptions and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Elevated energy prices could add to inflationary pressures and complicate central banks’ policy decisions. Gold, which does not offer interest income, generally faces pressure when bond yields and interest rates rise.
Federal Reserve Decision in Focus
Investors are closely watching the US Federal Reserve’s October 27–28 policy meeting for indications about the future direction of interest rates.
A hawkish policy outlook could strengthen the dollar and weigh on bullion, while expectations of lower borrowing costs may support gold prices.
Market participants will also monitor US inflation data, bond yields and currency movements for further cues.
Gold prices are expected to remain sensitive to global economic developments, crude oil movements and geopolitical risks in the near term.
