Imphal, July 13 (APAC Media): Senior IAS officer H. Gyan Prakash has been appointed as the Chairman of the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), the constitutional body responsible for recruitment to the state’s civil services.Â
The appointment has been made under Article 316 of the Constitution of India.
According to an official notification issued on Saturday, Gyan Prakash will hold office for six years from the date he assumes charge or until he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.
Under Regulation 5 of the Manipur Public Service Commission Regulations, 1972, he will be deemed to have retired from the Indian Administrative Service upon assuming charge as MPSC Chairman.
Prior to his appointment, IAS H. Gyan Prakash, a 2003-batch Manipur cadre officer, was serving as Commissioner and Secretary, Education Department, Government of Manipur.
Promoted to the IAS from the State Civil Service (SCS), Gyan Prakash has served in several key positions, including Commissioner, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Special Secretary and Additional Secretary across various departments in the state government.
An alumnus of the University of Delhi, he holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics.
