New Delhi, July 27 (APAC Media): Senior IAS Keshav Chandra officially assumed charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Mines today.
This marks a key leadership transition in the ministry.Â
A 1995-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, Chandra brings extensive administrative experience to the role. Before this appointment, he served as Chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). His previous assignments include Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chief Executive Officer of the Delhi Jal Board, and Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi.Â
Soon after taking charge, Chandra chaired a high-level review meeting with senior ministry officials to assess ongoing initiatives and outline future priorities. The discussions focused on accelerating mineral exploration, expediting the auction of mineral blocks, and strengthening the development of critical and strategic minerals.Â
His appointment is expected to support the government’s efforts to enhance mineral resource management and secure the country’s long-term mineral and energy needs.Â
