Bengaluru, July 29(APAC Media): Rapido has integrated its food delivery platform, Ownly, into its main app in Bengaluru, marking its latest move into India’s highly competitive online food delivery market. The update allows users to order food alongside booking bike taxis, auto-rickshaws and cabs through a single app.
The integration brings Ownly to Rapido’s larger customer base after operating as a standalone app. The company said the platform has partnered with nearly 20,000 restaurants across Bengaluru. Unlike traditional food delivery platforms, Rapido says Ownly follows a zero-commission model, allowing restaurants to keep their full order value instead of paying a percentage on every order.
Rapido co-founder Aravind Sanka said the integration is aimed at expanding access to the service while maintaining transparent pricing for customers and reducing costs for restaurant partners.
The move puts Rapido in direct competition with market leaders Swiggy and Zomato, which currently dominate India’s online food delivery sector. Rapido plans to use its existing rider network for food deliveries, helping improve rider utilisation during non-peak ride-hailing hours while lowering delivery costs.
To attract new users, Rapido is offering first-time Ownly customers a 50% discount of up to ₹100 on their first food order. The company is betting that its large ride-hailing user base can help it expand in the food delivery business without relying on the traditional commission-based model.
