New Delhi, 27 August (APAC Media): The Steel Research Technology Mission of India (SRTMI) and Sweden’s metals research institute SWERIM have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in iron and steel research, technology, and innovation.
The MoU was signed in Sweden in the presence of the Sandeep Poundrik, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, senior ministry officials, and the CMDs of SAIL, NMDC, and MOIL.
The collaboration will focus on several key areas:
- Decarbonisation and green steel
- Circular economy and resource efficiency
- Advanced and high-performance steels
- Digital technologies, including AI and machine learning
- Capacity building and technical training
The partnership will facilitate joint R&D projects and the exchange of scientific and technical expertise. It aims to accelerate sustainable steel development by combining India’s industrial capabilities with Sweden’s expertise in advanced and clean metallurgy.Â
The initiative is expected to support innovation, resource efficiency, and the transition towards a low-carbon steel industry in both countries.
