New Delhi, August 27 (APAC Media): The Delhi Government has signed an MoU with EkStep Foundation to make its administrative data more AI-ready, with the aim of improving governance, decision-making, and public service delivery.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a workshop with senior government officials to discuss how interconnected data systems can help ensure that the benefits of artificial intelligence reach citizens more effectively.
The initiative will focus on making government data more organised, reliable and usable for AI applications.
The workshop brought together Delhi government secretaries, department heads and senior officials to explore ways of using administrative data for evidence-based decision-making and proactive delivery of public services.
Gupta said government departments hold large volumes of data relating to citizens, beneficiaries, workers, students, health, education, employment and government schemes.
She emphasised the need to move beyond simply collecting and maintaining records towards using data to generate insights and anticipate citizens’ needs.
Under the MoU signed through the Planning Department, EkStep Foundation will serve as a knowledge partner to the Delhi Government.
Data DHARA Launched for AI-Ready Delhi
A presentation on ‘Data DHARA for an AI-Ready Delhi’ was held during the workshop, along with the launch of the Data DHARA toolkit and vision paper.
Data Harnessed for AI-Ready Advancements (DHARA) is an open-source methodology based on digital public infrastructure that is designed to help government departments and institutions prepare their data for AI use.
The technical session also showcased examples of how administrative data could improve the delivery of government schemes and services.
These included identifying eligible beneficiaries and connecting them with schemes such as Matru Vandana and Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya, reducing gaps in enrolment and helping construction workers access relevant government schemes.
